RECEIVE THE WORD OF GOD WITH QUICKNESS AND WILLINGNESS

“…they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”—Acts 17:11
The early bird gets the worm is an expression that is used to convey the thought that being first has the advantage and receives the best reward.  For example, that can be seen in the world today when a new product is introduced, and people will stand in long lines waiting to be the first to own it.  However, we as Christians are to be willing and quick to receive the Word of God.
When the Word of God has first place in your life, then that positions you to hear more clearly from the Spirit of the Lord.  Also, it will position you for greatness because you are consistently spending time in the Word.  Jesus put it this way, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:4-5).
The Living Word of God, Jesus, has made a promise to you that when you abide vitally united to Him and His words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts that you can ask whatever you will and it shall be done for you (John 15:7).  Your living union with Him makes tremendous power available to you.  When you accept and understanding the concept of your union with Christ then the idea of bearing fruit becomes a natural reality.  An apple tree does not have to try to produce apples it does; likewise any fruit producing tree, plant or bush.  It is their nature to produce fruit.  When you abide in vital union with Christ then it becomes your nature to produce fruit, the Father is glorified and you will be known as one of Christ’s disciples.
Prayer—Father I ask you that the Living Word would become a reality in my life today.  I ask you to help me remain consistent in your Word and that I would bear fruit for you.  Lord will you please put in order anything in my life that distracts from putting You first place, in Jesus Name. Amen.
