Old Self Crucified

I WAS CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST

I think that an overcoming life-style can be developed in the born-again believer. By the renewing of our minds to the fact that spiritually when Christ died, we died with Him. The following scriptures will help you develop a lifestyle of overcoming, and deepen your understanding of Christ’s death and what it means to His followers.

Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Confession: I was crucified with Christ. My old self was crucified with Him. Christ took my old self to the cross with Him and I died there with Him. The cross was God’s way of doing away with the old “me.” I was crucified with Him, nevertheless, I live; yet not the old “me,” but Christ lives in me.  My old life did not manage to survive the cross, but died there. It’s not my old self, but Christ Himself who lives in me. I died with Christ on the cross to the old life, the old world, and the old relations. I consider myself to have died and entered into a second existence which is simply Jesus using my body.

Galatians 6:14 "But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world."

Confession: I was crucified with Christ. By His cross I have been crucified to the world and the world has been crucified to me. I am in the world, but not of the world. The world holds no delusions and holds no sway over me. (The cross with its shame and reproach meant absolute separation from the world—its glamour and deceitfulness). I have been crucified to the world with Christ. By Christ’s death the world has died to me on the cross, and I have died to the world.

Romans 6:6 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."

(Good News) And we know that our old being has been put to death with Christ on his cross, in order that the power of the sinful self might be destroyed.

Confession: My old self was crucified with Christ. My old being was crucified with Him. My old nature was crucified with Him. The old person I used to be was nailed to the cross with Him.  I know this; I recognize this as a fact; I never forget this; I understand; I am well aware; I am conscious; I am certain of this fact—that my old self has been nailed to the cross with Him. My old original nature, my old humanity, my heathen state, the man I once was, the person I used to be in my pre-Christian days, my former evil identity, my old rebel self was crucified with Him.  I shared His crucifixion being put to death with Him on the cross; I was jointly, once and for all, at the same time crucified together with Him. My old being was exterminated, executed with Him. That leaves me no further role to perform as an offender. I am no longer a slave to the old habits and attitudes. I am a new self, a new being, a new creation. My sinful nature has been wiped out. I am no longer addicted to sin. My body is no longer the instrument of sin. My body has been made impotent and inactive for evil. I am no longer a slave of sin. Sin’s tyranny over me has been broken. My old self, my old being, my old nature was crucified with Christ. I know and recognize the fact that my old self was crucified with Christ. The old (put your name here)____________________was crucified with Christ.
